Old School aka Change-averse

Habit is stronger than reason -- George Santayana.

By “old school”, we are often sticking to certain methods out of habit, without thoughtfully examining whether they actually work. Habits are routines - good and bad. The familiarity of long-held beliefs or practices, whether good or bad, often makes people too content. When a teacher’s methods or beliefs are outdated or ineffective, it’s the student who suffers from the teacher’s misplaced comfort. That same comfort can also block the teacher's ability to honestly reflect and improve — which is what Thoreau meant when he described comfort as an obstacle to humanity’s progress.
